Case Study 01 — Treasured Restoration
A 1960s family mechanical watch, stopped for over a decade
Challenge
The watch had been stored for around 12 years after the mainspring failed. The owner had no knowledge of its service history. The case showed significant oxidation on the caseback, and the original crystal was cracked across the dial.
Solution
Full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, and new mainspring fitted from period-appropriate stock. The crystal was replaced with a suitable mineral glass. The caseback oxidation was addressed carefully to preserve the hallmarks. Cosmetic work was minimal — the owner wanted the watch to look its age.
Result
Watch returned running at approximately +8 seconds per day — well within specification for this calibre type. Full photographic record and written history document provided. Timeline: 7 weeks including part sourcing.

Case Study 02 — Refinish & Refresh
A work watch with a scratched case and a dead crystal
Challenge
A stainless steel watch worn daily for several years. The mineral crystal had a chip that was catching on cuffs, the brushed bezel had taken visible marks, and the rubber strap was beginning to deteriorate.
Solution
Assessment confirmed the movement was in good order. A plan was shared: replace the crystal, lightly brush the bezel to remove the deepest marks, and source a quality OEM-style strap in the correct lug width. Owner confirmed the scope and we proceeded.
Result
Watch returned looking noticeably more presentable without being overworked. Completed in 12 working days. Owner confirmed they were happy with the balance between cosmetic improvement and retaining the honest wear of the piece.

Case Study 03 — Everyday Service
Quartz watch losing time after a year on Phuket's coast
Challenge
A quartz sports watch used regularly near the sea. The owner noticed the watch losing several minutes per week. Suspicion was a dying battery, but the watch had also been worn while swimming.
Solution
Assessment found a compromised gasket — slight moisture ingress had affected the movement. Battery replaced, movement cleaned, gasket replaced with correct OEM equivalent. Case cleaned and sealed properly.
Result
Watch returned running accurately. Owner advised about future gasket checks given the usage environment — every 18 months is sensible for a watch worn near salt water. Turnaround: 7 working days.
